Please Pray for our Family

My father-in-law is a person that was probably the most active person I knew. He is the father of 10 children (8 boys and 2 girls). Now, that in itself is a lot of work. His lovely wife took care of those children with loving care all the days of her life. She passed on just shy of 3 years ago and I loved her like a 2nd mom.

My father-in-law had a debilitating stroke approximately 6 years ago. He was unable to live at home for about a year. He was living in a home for the elderly during that time. My mother-in-law, being the loving person that she was, couldn't wait to get him well enough to come home so she could take care of him. Now, this was a woman who was in her 70's, stooped over with arthritis, living with horrific pain every day of her life. She just wanted so badly to have her husband home where she could take care of him. Well, her desire was granted and she took care of father-in-law until she had a multiple of health problems and ended up bedridden herself.

My husband's family is the most loving family. All the boys have labored away keeping the lawn mowed, taking dad to the doctor, taking dad to his radiation treatments every day for weeks (that's another story), taking care of their mother in the evenings when she had taken ill and the list goes on and on.

Last night, we got a phone call that father-in-law had gone into a coma and was not expected to live. Right at the moment, he is on a ventilator. It's the only thing keeping him alive. They ran some tests this morning and apparently his heart is the only functioning organ. He has no brain waves, so the family has decided to remove him from the vent. They are just waiting for the family to gather, so they can be with him.

I called my son, who's at college. He's very shaken by all this. He's so far from home at the moment and all I want to do is hug him. He has mid-terms this week, so he's struggling with this all on his own with a bit of added stress from school.

Please pray for this wonderful family during this time.
