The other day while surfing the world wide web, I came across a very good site. I haven't had a chance to thoroughly examine it, but I did come across an article (booklet) that inspired me to get back into my Bible study much more consistently than I have been recently.
For about 2 years, I delved into my Bible every morning, noon and night. How can one get out of such a good habit after 2 years? I've been asking myself the same question. For the last year, I've let 'life' get in the way and no more.

The booklet that inspired me is titled Studying the Scriptures by Kenneth Boa.
Basically, I'll paraphrase the piece that inspired me to get back into regular Bible Study:
God gave us His Word in order for us to break free from the realm of darkness, which is the realm of apparent reality, and to open the door to ultimate reality, which is the area of spiritual life, the unseen things of God.
The apparent reality is all that is seen and known through our five senses. The ultimate reality is all that is in the spiritual realm of God, the unseen things.
Without God's Word, we would be locked into the realm of darkness without ever being able to break through to the ultimate reality.
Being locked into this world of darkness and bound to the level of the finite, the relative and the temporal, we would be unable to find the meaning and purpose in life that can only come from the infinite, the absolute and the eternal.
Colossians 1;13: "He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love." (NKJV)
If we delve into the Word of God deeply and on a consistent basis our value and moral system should start to sway from the temporal to the eternal.
Colossians 3:2: "Set your mind on things above, not things on the earth." (NKJV)
2 Corinthians 4:18: "while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but things which are not seen are eternal." (NKJV)
So, we can choose to remain locked within the darkness or we can dig deeply into the Word and learn to live our lives under the dominion of the King.
