I haven't really thought out any earth-shaking post, but I thought I would just sit down and 'talk' about my recent every day happenings.
DS has had the flu since Sunday. He has fever, a cough that sounds as if he has smoked a couple packs per day for years, aches, chills, no appetite, and running to the john every 5 minutes. Last night, he said he thinks the fever broke. The cough is still bad, but a bit better. He ate his first meal. Well....and he's only visiting the bathroom every 10 minutes now.
Since he's two hours away, I packed up a box of tea and honey, soup, and other goodies to send off to him. He should get it tomorrow. I asked if he wanted me to put in a box a tissues. I know that sounds silly, but when you're sick, it's hard to travel off-campus a few miles and go get all the things that we just reach in a cupboard for AND men never think to have tissues on hand. He said not to bother, because since he was in the bathroom so much, he was just using toilet paper! LOL! Typical man again!
Anyway, I think he might be on the mend as his appetite is coming back and that's usually a good sign that he's feeling better.
Work is the zoo that it always is. Since I'm special education secretary, there is always a craziness that takes over this time of year as we are doing our annual review meetings for all the students with IEPs. This is the time of year that you just kind of 'grin and bear it.'
Hubby had a swollen elbow, which is now going down in size. The pain was bad, even though he's not a complainer. But now, he turned his ankle and that is giving him problems. Of course, being a man, he won't go to the doctor unless he feels it needs to be amputated.
I'm really not male bashing here. I'm just letting you all know what the typical man in my life is like! Actually, hubby is a sweetie and he never complains about any of his aches and pains. He told me "Why bother? I'd be complaining every day." Oh, the joys of getting older. In fact, the only reason I knew about the elbow and the ankle was because he was rubbing the elbow constantly and he was limping last night when he got home. He never said a word, until I asked.
On a brighter note, the temps are supposed to be in the 50's today. I'm so looking forward to it.
Well, that's the news for now from Po'dunk Town. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

I'd be having a better day (it's a day off for me) if my husband didn't have to move hay for 10 hours which ended up making ME fill out and file the FAFSA--UGH, UGH and Double-UGH!
Still praying for your husband and son.
You're absolutely right about men and doctors--amputated! LOL! Are you sure he wouldn't just do that himself as well? My dad cut open (literally) his own thumb nail to remove a festering splinter one night at 3 am.
I know all about that FAFSA form.. Ugh! Is absolutely correct. It's bad enough to do the taxes, then wham! that FAFSA form has to be done! I'm making the boy do it when he comes home for spring break (although I will have to help him with all the hard stuff...financial info).
Yes, I could see hubby doing it himself.
You know the splinter in the thumb nail made me chuckle. I remember I had shut my thumb in a car door on evening. At around 2 a.m. it throbbed so bad, I woke up my dad and he lacerated it for me! Yi, yi, yi! My mom about had a stroke the next morning when she found out that was how he dealt with it.
Although, it did relieve the pain and healed nicely! LOL! Men!
Throbbing in the middle of the night--yep, that's what Dad said it was doing. I asked him if it hurt to do that and he said not as much as the throbbing.
I know that my thumb didn't hurt near as bad after Dad had lacerated it, compared to the pain of the throbbing!
We lived 60 miles one way from the hospital and he definitely didn't want to make that trip in the middle of the night!
