What's Been Happening

This week I have been extremely exhausted. I've been going to work, coming home, taking a short nap (big mistake, because then it keeps me up at night), making dinner, cleaning up, then feeling like crashing again.

My son called earlier in the week to tell us that he has a bunch that has formed on his neck. This is a small area that has been a raised bump for a little while. Apparently, the doctor had told him in the past, when he had something similar, that it was his glands working overtime on germs. As long as they go away, everything is all right. But, this one didn't go away, in fact, in the last week or so it's gotten large and sore. So, today, he went to the clinic on campus to see the doctor. He believes that it's a cyst that has gotten infected and he will start on antibiotics on Monday when the college has their next pharmacy delivery made.

Now, my mom calls a few hours after DS tells me the news about the visit with the doctor and told me that my cousin's daughter has a bunch on her neck and it's cancerous. Oh, wow, mom, I really wish you hadn't told me that. I've been worried all week about this thing, now when I finally think things might be looking better, you tell me this. Ugh!

We also had gone to a football game a few weekends ago in Buffalo to watch DS play. This was the weekend after we buried my father in law. After the game, we normally take DS out to eat before we leave town. Bryce jumps in the van and says he's not hungry and doesn't feel like going out to eat. Now this boy can eat! So, I naturally asked him if he wasn't feeling well. Apparently, he had had a sore throat and bad cough for a few days and unfortunately it felt about 20 degrees and rained the few days prior. He had been having football outside during that weather.

I asked him if it occurred to him to skip practice until he was feeling a bit better. NO! No way, Mom! Well, he also tells us that he had been running to the bathroom before and after the game and suddenly felt like he was going to vomit. So, we took him back to the dorm and started home. He called me on the ride home and told me that he had gotten quite sick, but was feeling better.

Three to four hours later, when we got home, my husband talked to him on the phone and apparently, he had been unable to leave the bathroom for the last several hours. It was coming out both ends...sorry, if that's too much information. Come to find out, the poor dear, had food poisoning. It's so distressing being this far away when your child is sick. The next day I knew he was improving quickly as he was calling me on and off all day asking me what he could eat or not eat to keep the uglies away.

This has been a trying week, so I'm thrilled that it's over. I miss my boy more than ever, but I also know he's feeling better. The football trainer has decided to 'patch' the bunch up for the boy while he's playing football, because the pads rub and make it more sore. He confirmed the belief that it was just a cyst that had become infected.

I really didn't want this post to sound like a whine, because truly, I'm feeling better about all that's been happening recently. I've been wearing my Bible out, which is a very soothing thing when you're dealing with too much stress. The good Lord has helped me to come to terms with all the long distance worries that I've had recently and I'm very grateful.

So, really, this post has turned more into a praise!

God is good!

Oh, Ladybug, I'm so glad you commented.

Yes, there is an update, so I'll put it in a new post ASAP!

Thanks for visiting.

You, too, are in my prayers. I know you've had a lot of changes in your life that have limited your time online.
